Each month we like to highlight an employee who exemplifies the mission, philosophy, and values of our organization. This month we are delighted to highlight our Events Coordinator, Kayleigh Roenicke, as our Employee of the Month.
You may have had a tour or attended an event hosted by Kayleigh at the Rescue Mission; she passionately serves with an abundance of encouragement and joy. It is an honor to serve alongside of you, Kayleigh, we are so blessed to have you on our team!
Age: 29…almost the big 3-0!
Where did you grow up? In an adorable little mining town in Northern California called Grass Valley
Hobbies: the outdoors (hiking, running, swimming…), traveling, exploring new coffee shops with my hubby, playing games of all kinds!, basketball, learning languages, reading
How long have you been at the mission: About a year and a half…which has gone so fast!
How did you hear about the job opportunity at the mission: I never expected to end up here at OCRM, but I am overjoyed and grateful every day for this opportunity! I was pursuing a career in sports and hospitality, but then heard of an opening through friends at church who worked for the mission. I already had a special place in my heart for VOH (since our church was onsite) and so I thought “Why not apply? I love this place and what the Lord is doing here!” And now here I am
What do you love most about your job: The fact that I love my job is an understatement! My coworker used to have to remind me to actually “go home” when the work day was over. Participating in the work that the Lord is doing here in the lives of the students and being surrounded by a team of incredible people in the process is truly humbling. I really enjoy working in events as I love being an initiator of activities and encouraging people to be connected and involved.
How have you grown since coming to the mission: The incredible thing about this job is that it is always evolving and each day brings new opportunities and challenges! It definitely keeps me on my toes and teaches me to trust and rely on the Lord with every task at hand. It has also taught me to see the bigger picture in the work that each of us do day in and day out. Each day serves as a reminder that “it is not about me” but that I simply get to play a part in God’s amazing work here at OCRM! For that I am thankful
Church: Mission Bible Church
