A Country Christmas

A Country Christmas

by | Dec 25, 2013

Buried in the foothills of Warner Springs, nestled amongst horses, goats and chickens are a grizzly band of brothers.
Where they appear to be rough around the edges, there is actually a surprising tenderness at this Ranch, especially at the celebration of the birth of a little baby boy; Jesus.
Much like the shepherds that arrived on the nativity scene, these unshaven ranch hands are brimming with joy with the hope of Christmas.

Christmas at DRR

Christmas at the Double R Ranch.

The good news of Jesus is their life line. Journeys from prison, addiction, homelessness, abandonment, abuse and the whole lot have led them to this place.  A safe haven surrounded with totally sympathetic animals and unconditional love.
Visitors come to share their journey, especially on this monumental holiday.
Faithful friends like these from Coast Hills Church stop in to break bread, ride horses, make crafts and share Christmas memories.

The Double R Ranch is a special place. The similarities with the setting of the Christmas story are uncanny. These are the men that would have been heralded by an angel and invited to the first waking cries of this baby boy, a king, the savior of the world. These men are special.
I am forever grateful to friends like Coast Hills Church that also recognize this and continue to invest time in these guys.
Merry Christmas from the Double R Ranch!
If you would like to give a gift to these men at the Double R Ranch, today is the last day that your dollar can be doubled by our matching grant. Give on our website HERE, today, to have your gift doubled.
