Being a Good Neighbor to Tustin Fire Victims

Being a Good Neighbor to Tustin Fire Victims

by | Feb 14, 2020

I am heartbroken to hear of the total loss of property in the Tuesday early morning fire at the Chatham Village Apartments in Tustin. But also, I’m so thankful that with neighbors helping each other and the assistance of the Orange County Fire Authority and the Tustin Police Department, no lives were lost in this tragedy.

Dr. Mayor Allan Bernstein says it well that “The City of Tustin has a spirit of generosity, a family-oriented mindset and the response from our community has been incredible.”

Orange County Rescue Mission is happy to do our part by providing breakfast and lunch to those who are receiving shelter at the Tustin Senior Center, for however long is needed, until everyone finds temporary housing. Our staff and residents have this spirit of generosity, and we are grateful to pass on to others the blessings of being a part of the Tustin community.

In addition, Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope has been designated by the City of Tustin as the drop-off location for all donations to assist the fire victims. The warehouse at 1 Hope Drive, Tustin, 92782, is open to receive donations every day, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Items that the fire victims especially need are: towels, new clothing, hygiene items and gift cards for groceries, gas and clothing.
