Big News for Homeless Vets

Tuesday night was a big win for the community of resources and organizations seeking to support Orange County’s population of under-served men and women who have served in the United States Military. As the Orange County Rescue Mission prioritized a veterans initiative in early 2014, we have since hired on a full-time staff member to coordinate these efforts, served over 150 unduplicated clients, and brought 17 of those men and women into the program at the Orange County Rescue Mission.
The next biggest goal was achieved Tuesday as several veterans joined myself at Tustin’s City Council meeting where Mayor Chuck Puckett and the Council members voted a unanimous and heart-felt ‘yes’ to grant housing to the Rescue Mission to be designated specifically to the needs of veterans in transition.
