On January 31, Orange County Business Journal hosted a Chief Financial Officer awards gala for outstanding performance as corporate stewards for the preceding fiscal year. I am pleased that our own CFO, Larry Gwilt, was among the five not-for-profit nominees.

After having worked in the accounting field in for-profit organizations for almost forty years, Larry joined us as the CFO for both Orange County Rescue Mission and Hurtt Family Health Clinics. Our board requires excellence and integrity in this very demanding position. Larry has excelled as our CFO by exceeding our high standards, including successfully building interdepartmental cooperation, improving the operational performance for his team, and by internalizing more of the accounting services. This in turn means that even more of the funds our donors give go directly to programs to serve the homeless.

Donors to Orange County Rescue Mission can be confident that their donations are stewarded with the utmost of care and integrity. I am grateful to have Larry Gwilt, such an extraordinary CFO, on our team!
