I am always amazed by the generosity and impact we can make in our community when we come together. Howard’s has been instrumental in supporting Orange County Rescue Mission by providing much-needed appliances on various campuses. From transitional housing for formerly homeless men, women and their families to homeless veterans, Howard’s support has provided a place to call home for people who are focused on returning to work and transitioning to financial independence.
Our relationship with Howard’s started in 2013 when CEO and President John Riddle donated washers and dryers for our transitional housing program for homeless single women and mothers with children. Since then, Howard’s has committed to providing appliances for our various programs and campuses. In November 2019, John and his team personally visited our Tustin Veterans Outpost to scope out the needs for appliances for campus expansion. The Veterans Outpost expansion took place during the height of the pandemic, addressing a critical need to expand the capacity by 150% to support up to 70 veterans and family members. Howard’s remained committed to providing complete kitchen suites, washing machines, dryers, and TVs to all the new apartment units.
Howard’s has continued to donate new appliances to our other Orange County campuses, including our shelter home for at-risk teens, alumni housing, and, where it all began – the transitional housing program for homeless single women and mothers with children. As an employee-owned company, all of Howard’s charitable contributions to community organizations are carefully reviewed and agreed upon internally for maximum benefit to their neighbors.
