This Halloween the kiddos of the Village of Hope were in for a treat! A Trunk or Treat, that is! Local church, Mission Bible Church, partnered with the Rescue Mission to bless the children and families here with a safe and fun environment to go trick-or-treating, play games, and make a splash by dunking a pastor in the dunk tank!
The volunteers arrived hours early for set-up and went all out, decorating cars with whimsical and creative themes such as the “Hundred Acre Woods” and “Parting of the Red Sea”. The games and craft stations were a hit with the kids and there was such evident joy as families explored the many costumed cars, collecting candy as they went.
But what truly made this event so wonderful is that it not only blessed our families here but it was open to the public as well! Mission Bible Church spread the word to the surrounding community and families from around Orange County came to the Village of Hope to join in the fun. Overall about 300 people participated in the event! I am so appreciative of events like this which bring the local community and the community here at the Village of Hope together. Not only are we able to share with the community the transforming work that God is doing here, but our residents are also able to build relationships within a local community which will be a help and a support to them long after they leave our campus.
Thank you to Mission Bible Church for partnering with us to give the children and families of the Rescue Mission a fun and safe Halloween that they will never forget!
