Naturally, when we want to help someone, we want to give them things. It’s the most convenient way to show that you care. But there is an entirely other side to helping someone when you care by giving them moments. This is a deeper level of generosity, because it requires time, which precious to us all.
One of the positive assets of the Rescue Mission is the gift of multiple locations. Our Double R Ranch program in Warner Springs has proved to truly be a gift of moments. Where we consistently house and serve about 20 men at this location, the Ranch also serves as a Rescue Mission haven for moments to it’s visitors.
Each month we send families from the Village of Hope out to the Ranch to enjoy a weekend of Family Camp and God’s great outdoors. The change of scenery, quality family time and a camp curriculum cultivate sincere transformational and restorative moments between parents and their children. Many of our families have never truly spent time outside of an urban setting or had the luxury of a vacation of any kind. These weekends provide a rare opportunity for families to genuinely and authentically enjoy unadulterated time together.
Great job Robby and the Ranch staff and students for hosting our families for these special weekends and a huge thank you to our donors for supporting the Double R Ranch and the special moments this campus provides.
