by | Nov 19, 2019

It is such a proud moment for me when one of our staff is recognized by the community for their achievements and character.

This year, Steve Giddings, who has served as the “house dad” at Laurel House for 23 years was awarded Assembly District 68 Veteran of the Year by Assemblyman Steven S. Choi, Ph.D at the 2nd Annual OC Veterans Dinner (photo above).

Sargeant Steven Giddings (ret) entered the Army in September of 1989 and served with honor through 1995. Sargeant Giddings served in Operation Desert Storm with Aerial Intelligence Mohawk aircraft and was awarded many services Stars including the Kuwait Liberation Medal, Air Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Sharpshooter Badge.

In addition to serving in the Army, Steve embodies servant leadership. He is always available to give you a hand, and is the person you want by your side in challenging times. Steve serves his community as a Public Service Officer with the Tustin Police Department. And, Steve is an active volunteer with Orange County Rescue Mission, serves with the Tustin American Legion Post 227, and the Miss Tustin Pageant.

Congratulations, Steve, for this prestigious award!
