Sarah Martin just turned 10 years old. Rather than have her friends bring gifts to her birthday party, Sarah did something out of the ordinary.
Sarah asked that all of her friends bring a pair of shoes to donate to Orange County Rescue Mission! Uncommon for someone her age, Sarah decided instead of receiving presents, that she wanted to do something to give back to the community. Homelessness has been on issue on her heart so she approached her parents with her idea of her friends donating shoes. Her father, Chase Martin, is a supporter of the Rescue Mission and recommended she bring the shoes here.
Sarah and her friends went above and beyond! Sarah collected 50 pairs of shoes and a large bag of socks as well. When asked why she decided to do this, Sarah said, “They deserve to get back on their feet.” And she is helping them do just that, by literally putting shoes on their feet!
I am overjoyed to see someone of such a young age with a heart to serve and care for those in need. Sarah, thank you for your generosity and your willingness to sacrifice for the good of others. Keep serving and loving others!
