As we continue to take steps forward in developing our dream for the Veterans Village of Hope, valuable community partners like the Tustin Exchange Club help propel us forward in developing help for our homeless vets. Exchange Club Vice President Randi Bernstein and her volunteers presented the Rescue Mission with a gift of $5,969 to purchase beds and contributed and sorted boxes of supplies for the “Barracks in a Box” drive.

A just-launched nonprofit, the Exchange Club of Tustin, got off to a roaring start in February with its Comedy Night, which raised about $14,000 for homeless veterans.   On Saturday, Exchange Club officials presented a check for $5,969 to Orange County Rescue Mission CEO Jim Palmer.   The money will buy beds for the complex, which can serve up to 32 homeless veterans.   The Exchange Club also collected 40 boxes of donations for the veterans for its “Barracks in a Box” drive.   Volunteers sorted canned food, toothpaste, soap and other necessities into 32 bins for the veterans who will move in.   “We have been working very hard for this wonderful project,” Exchange Club Vice President Randi Bernstein said.
