Reflecting on MLK

Reflecting on MLK

MLK
In the timeless words of one of America’s greatest movement-makers and visionaries, “Our only hope today lies in our ability to recapture the revolutionary spirit and go out into a sometimes hostile world declaring eternal hostility to poverty…”
Martin Luther King Jr. so strongly believed in the gospel of the American values the framers instilled in our constitution, he refused to accept second class citizens in our first class nation.
MLK
King confronted American apathy by saying, “True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.”
As I reflect on Rev. King’s impact on our country in our present day, I am challenged to continue to advocate for the cause of the least, the last and the lost. Martin Luther King Jr.’s war on injustice and poverty is not over. We must continue to take our mission to the darkest places in our cities and refuse to accept a life style that overlooks and ignores other humans in need.
I am thankful for this reminder today.
