This Veterans Day, we raised the roof! I am pleased to share with you that our first Veterans Day dinner event was a tremendous success and a sell-out! Over 120 men and women packed out the Black Marlin restaurant for this fantastic event, several of which were veterans living at our Tustin Veterans Outpost facility and sponsored to attend by generous donations from members of the community.
It was truly an evening of camaraderie and fun, and an opportunity to honor those who have served our country and now need our help. It is with incredible joy that I am able to share with you that we met our goal of $25,000 to provide a new roof for Tustin Veterans Outpost!
This event was a community effort, and would not have been possible without the generosity and hard work of many individuals, who I would like to take a moment to thank. Thank you to John Moore and his team at the Black Marlin restaurant for hosting the event, providing delicious food, and impeccable service;the Exchange Club of Tustin for their help coordinating this event and a generous donation with the Reynard Foundation that helped us meet our goal; and to American Legion Post 227 Color Guard for the presentation of the colors during the program and for their generous donation; to Marna Michele for her beautiful performance of the National Anthem; to Mayor Al Murray for his invocation; to Tony Oliveri, a veteran with Tustin Veterans Outpost, for sharing his story; and to the Nancy A. Hill Foundation for their generous donation.
This incredible event was not only a joy for me, but it was a tremendous blessing to the veterans, both those who attended and those who will benefit from the new roof that will be provided from the night’s funds. Thank you again to all who attended, and I look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s Veterans Day dinner!
