As Thanksgiving draws closer, I am getting more and more questions regarding volunteer opportunities on Thanksgiving day. I am so encouraged to know I live in a community that has the heart and desire to serve their neighbors. We are blessed to have filled our Thanksgiving meal volunteer opportunities, however there is another way you can serve with us this year: the Turkey Trot!
If you love to run or enjoy a morning walk with friends, we encourage you to come on out and join us for our third annual Turkey Trot OC 5K Run/Walk! You can register online here before Monday 11/21 or pay with cash or check when you arrive on Thanksgiving morning. Go to www.TurkeyTrotOC.org to get the details about the race. The proceeds benefit Orange County Rescue Mission by providing meals for our hungry and homeless neighbors in Orange County. Our goal is to raise enough to provide 30,000 meals.
Even if you don’t want to run or walk in the Trot, we can use your help! We need more volunteers to help cheer on our runners, man the water stations, and assist as other general event help. We can never have too many helping hands as we strive to put on an event that brings the community together for the good of our hurting and homeless neighbors. We appreciate all those who would like to assist us with this event!
If you are interested in helping with our Turkey Trot, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Marley, at (714) 247-4368 or volunteers@rescuemission.org.
