Men on staff from the Orange County Rescue Mission and Church at the Mission Tustin held our first ever Wild at Heart boot camp at the Village of Hope this last weekend. The four-day live event included approximately 65 men who live at the Village of Hope and Corona Norco Rescue Mission transitional program as well as men living at the Double R Ranch. Men from Church at the Mission also participated.
Wild at Heart boot camp was developed by John Eldredge and his book by the same name. John Eldredge and his Ransomed Heart team lead several boot camps every year with men participating from all over the world. Described on their website, “Wild at Heart Boot Camp isn’t just another men’s retreat. That’s the last thing anybody needs. The reason most messages for men ultimately fail is simple: They ignore what is deep and true to a man’s heart, and try to shape him up through various forms of pressure. Not this. This weekend is an honest, no b.s. trek into the deep passions and desires of a man’s heart, into the healing of the wounds he’s taken in this battle, into the realm of fatherhood and sex and God and calling – life as it was meant to be lived. Through the sessions, the times of quiet reflection, the movies, the adventures and the downtime, you will discover something profound about the heart of God and the heart he gave you as a man. Those who come say it is one of the greatest weekends of their entire life.”
Please join me in praying for these men, that their hearts continue to be moved by Jesus in ways they never thought possible! Please pray that God fills the Rescue Mission with his presence and safeguards all who have completed the boot camp.
